3-Day International Event to Showcase African Creativity, Culture, Entrepreneurship and Global Trade Opportunities

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – The International African Arts, Crafts and Culture Fair (IAACCF) is set to make its South African debut from July 24–26, 2026, at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, bringing together artists, entrepreneurs, cultural practitioners, fashion designers, exhibitors, investors, tourism stakeholders, and business leaders from across Africa and the diaspora.

Held under the theme "Empowering African Creatives, Expanding Global Trade," IAACCF South Africa 2026 aims to celebrate Africa's rich cultural heritage while creating opportunities for business growth, international networking, tourism promotion, and cross-border collaboration.

The inaugural South African edition is expected to attract exhibitors, creatives, entrepreneurs, cultural organizations, and visitors from multiple African countries, creating opportunities for trade, cultural exchange, tourism promotion, and investment discussions.

The three-day event will feature African arts and crafts exhibitions, cultural showcases, fashion presentations, live performances, business networking sessions, food experiences, entrepreneurship opportunities, and marketplace activities designed to connect African creatives with local and global audiences.

Founded in Canada by entrepreneur and cultural advocate Randa Esi Adjare, IAACCF was established to create a platform where African creativity, innovation, and culture can be celebrated while opening doors to economic empowerment and international trade opportunities.

South Africa was selected as the host country for the 2026 edition due to its vibrant creative economy, strong tourism infrastructure, and strategic position as a gateway for African and international business engagement.

IAACCF South Africa 2026 is supported by local partners and industry stakeholders committed to advancing African arts, culture, tourism, and creative enterprise development.

"IAACCF is more than an event; it is a movement dedicated to changing narratives about Africa by showcasing the continent's creativity, innovation, talent, and entrepreneurial excellence," said Adjare. 1. Strategic Location for International Delegates

Africa’s fashion story is one of the oldest and most vibrant in human history. Long before the emergence of modern fashion capitals, African societies used clothing, textiles, jewelry, body adornment, hairstyles, and colors as powerful expressions of identity, status, spirituality, community, and heritage. Across the continent, every fabric, pattern, bead, and silhouette carries meaning. Fashion has always been more than what we wear—it is a language through which we tell our stories.

Yet, as Africans migrate across the globe in search of education, opportunities, and new beginnings, many gradually become disconnected from aspects of their cultural heritage. Fashion is often one of the first casualties of this disconnection. Traditional garments are exchanged for mainstream trends, cultural narratives become less visible, and future generations grow up with limited exposure to the beauty and richness of their ancestral roots.

This reality became increasingly apparent to me through my interactions with Africans and people of African descent living in the diaspora. I observed that many young Africans born and raised outside the continent possessed only fragmented knowledge of their cultural heritage. Their curiosity was evident, but opportunities for meaningful cultural engagement were limited.

One conversation, in particular, remains etched in my memory. A young woman who was born and raised in Canada said to me, “Growing up, I’ve always felt left out. My parents did not have the time to teach me about Africa. Please tell me more about Africa.”

Her words reflected something I had encountered repeatedly—a genuine desire among many members of the African diaspora to reconnect with their roots, understand their heritage, and discover where they belong within the broader African story.

This is one of the primary reasons I created the AfriRunway Experience.

The AfriRunway Experience was never intended to be just another fashion show. It was conceived as a cultural journey—an immersive storytelling platform where fashion serves as a bridge between generations, cultures, and identities. Through carefully curated runway presentations, music, visual elements, styling, and artistic expression, we seek to showcase the elegance, beauty, innovation, and relevance of African fashion while sparking curiosity about the cultures that inspire it.

What many people do not realize is that reconnecting with one’s roots can be deeply healing. Embracing our authentic selves allows us to better understand who we are, where we come from, and the values that shape us. When individuals are connected to their identity, they are often more confident, grounded, and purposeful. As more people experience that healing, communities become stronger, more peaceful, and more harmonious.

In many cases, hatred, division, prejudice, and harmful behaviours stem from unhealed wounds, identity struggles, and feelings of disconnection. Cultural understanding can become a powerful tool for healing. By celebrating African heritage in an engaging and accessible way, we hope to contribute to a future where people embrace diversity, respect one another’s stories, and take pride in their own.

At AfriRunway Experience, the audience does not simply watch a runway show—they experience emotions, memories, and connections. They see themselves reflected in the stories being told. They witness the richness of African creativity. They discover that African fashion is not only beautiful but also relevant, sophisticated, innovative, and globally influential.

The successful conclusion of this year’s AfriRunway Experience marks only the beginning of a much larger vision. Each year, the event will evolve through new themes, concepts, artistic interpretations, and cultural narratives. We intend to continue creating experiences that educate, inspire, empower, and unite people from all walks of life.

Our long-term goal is to establish AfriRunway Experience as a premier platform for cultural preservation, creative expression, talent development, and cross-cultural dialogue. We envision a future where African designers gain greater visibility, emerging creatives find opportunities to thrive, and audiences leave with a deeper appreciation for the continent’s diverse cultures and contributions to the world.
